Privacy Policy — Flip Text

Privacy Policy for Flip Text Last updated: 23 August 2026 Flip Text is developed and published by Muhammad Taha, trading as Tahatec. This policy explains what the app does with information, what leaves your device and what does not. Questions, requests or complaints: tahatec@yahoo.com The short version The text you type never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, not logged, not sent to me, and not sent to anyone else. Flip Text has no accounts and no servers of my own. There is nothing to sign up for and nowhere for your text to be stored off your phone. The app does use three Google services — analytics, crash reporting and ads — and those collect device and usage information. That is described in full below. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, with Meta Audience Network as a mediation partner. What stays on your device All of the following is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. It is never transmitted anywhere. What Detail The text you type Held in memory while you use the app. Your flip history Up to 200 entries, each capped at 500 characters of input and of output. Your starred favourites Kept until you remove them. Your settings Theme, language, last-used style, and the reverse toggle. Two things worth knowing about this data: It is excluded from Android backup and from device-to-device transfer. The app explicitly opts its stored data out of Google's automatic cloud backup, so your history does not get copied to your Google account or onto a new phone. This is deliberate: the text people put into an app like this is often private. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. So does Android's Settings → Apps → Flip Text → Storage → Clear storage. Clearing history inside the app removes history but keeps your starred favourites. When you tap Copy, the result goes to your device clipboard. When you tap Share, Android's own share sheet opens and the result is passed to whichever app you choose. From that point the receiving app's privacy policy applies, not this one. Neither action sends anything to me. What is collected, and by whom I do not operate any server. Everything in this section is collected by Google or Meta as independent providers, under their own privacy policies, and is used to run analytics, crash reporting, notifications and advertising. 1. Usage analytics — Google Firebase Analytics Used to understand which features are worth keeping. The app never records what you type or what the app produces. What is recorded when you use the app: Which of the 14 styles you used, and whether the reverse toggle was on. A length band for your input — for example "21–100 characters" — never the length itself and never the text. Which screens you opened (the style gallery, history, settings, the explanation screen). Whether you copied or shared a result, and which of the two. Actions taken on a history entry: reused, copied, deleted, starred, unstarred. Your chosen app language and theme. Whether you allowed notifications, and the outcome of the ads consent form. Firebase also collects a standard set of information automatically, which I do not control the content of: an app instance identifier, app version, device model, operating system version, screen language, approximate location derived from your IP address (country or region level), and first-open, session and app-removal events. It also reads the Google Play install referrer, which indicates how the install was acquired. 2. Crash reporting — Google Firebase Crashlytics Used to find and fix crashes. A crash report contains the error and its stack trace, the app version, device model and operating system version, and a Crashlytics installation identifier. Crash reports do not contain your text. Where the app attaches context to an error, it attaches the identifier of the style in use — never the input or the result. 3. Notifications — Google Firebase Cloud Messaging If you allow notifications, the app registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging and subscribes to a single broadcast topic so I can send occasional announcements about the app. This involves a messaging registration token for your app install. Notifications are optional. The app asks once, after your first flip, and never again. Declining changes nothing else about how the app works, and you can change your mind at any time in Android's Settings → Apps → Flip Text → Notifications. 4. Advertising — Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network The app is free and shows a banner, plus an occasional full-screen ad. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which uses Meta Audience Network as a mediation partner to fill some ad requests. To serve and measure ads, these providers may collect and use: Your device's advertising identifier. Your IP address, and approximate location derived from it. Device and app information, and your interactions with the ads shown (impressions, clicks). Depending on your consent and your region, ads may be personalised — based on a profile the ad provider holds — or non-personalised, based only on coarse context such as country and the app you are using. I do not receive your advertising identifier, and I have no access to any profile these providers hold about you. I see only aggregate reports of impressions, clicks and revenue. Consent for advertising If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or a US state with an applicable privacy law, the app shows a consent form the first time it runs, using Google's User Messaging Platform. It asks whether ad providers may use your data for personalised advertising. If you decline, the app does not start the advertising system at all for that choice, and any ads shown are non-personalised. You can change your answer at any time. Where a consent choice applies to you, a Privacy options entry appears in the app's overflow menu (the three dots, top right). It reopens the same form. If you do not see that entry, it is because no consent requirement was detected for your region. Outside those regions no form is shown, and ads are served on the basis permitted by local law. Permissions the app requests Permission Why Internet, network state Loading ads, and sending analytics and crash reports. Notifications Only if you allow it — for the announcements described above. Advertising ID Used by the advertising and analytics providers. Vibrate, wake lock, foreground service Required by the notification system to display a notification. Play install referrer Used by Firebase Analytics for install attribution. The app requests no access to your photos, files, contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location. Earlier development builds declared storage permissions; those were removed before release because the app has never read or written any file outside its own private storage. How long data is kept On your device: until you delete it, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. History is capped at 200 entries; older non-starred entries are dropped automatically as new ones arrive. Analytics: Google Analytics for Firebase retains event-level data for a limited period set in the Firebase console; aggregated reporting may be kept longer. Crash reports: retained by Crashlytics for a limited period, typically around 90 days. Advertising: retention is determined by Google and Meta under their own policies. Your choices and your rights You can, at any time and without contacting me: Reset or delete your local data — clear history in the app, or use Settings → Apps → Flip Text → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall. Reset or delete your advertising ID — Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. The same screen lets you opt out of ad personalisation entirely. Turn notifications off — Android Settings → Apps → Flip Text → Notifications. Change your ads consent — the Privacy options item in the app's menu, where it applies to you. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal data relating to you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California and other US states with comparable laws may have rights to know about, delete, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — I do not sell personal information for money, and turning off ad personalisation as described above is the way to opt out of the sharing involved in personalised advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email tahatec@yahoo.com. Please say which app you are writing about, because I publish several. I will respond within one month. An honest limitation: because the app has no accounts and I hold no database of users, I have no way to identify you or to look up "your" records. For data held by Google or Meta, requests are usually faster and more complete if you make them directly to those companies, or use the device controls above. I will help where I can. Children Flip Text is not directed to children. It is intended for users aged 13 or over, or the minimum age required for consent to data processing in your country if that age is higher. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided information through this app, email me and I will act on it. Third-party policies The providers named above process data under their own terms: Google Privacy Policy — https://policies.google.com/privacy How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services — https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites Google AdMob and advertising — https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543 Firebase and Google Analytics data practices — https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy Meta Audience Network data policy — https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy International transfers The providers named above operate globally. Information they collect may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards described in their own privacy policies. Changes to this policy If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated and the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use the app after an update means the revised policy applies.
